UNUSUAL speaker designs

And Miss Heidi looks quite content, at ease and relaxed with attentive ears listening to some fine music in photo #5 ! Reminiscent of Nipper, the RCA terrier dog.

Maybe some company would like to purchase the rights to use the photos of Miss Heidi when she was a puupy?

I would be very interested in any offers.

Hopefully he wouldn't be mourning "his master's voice" in your case!
...interestingly (at least to me), the original painting was of the dog listening to an Edison cylinder on a casket. The painter tried to sell the image to Edison, and they refused, it was then offered to Victor (soon to become RCA-Victor), and with the requested changes to eliminate the casket, and make the cylinder player a record player, it was sold.

I know, i know,:boring: but I find that stuff interesting!

Maybe some enterprising member of the physics staff at CERN will come up with a superconducting coil based speaker. With such an animal, you could suspend a small diaphragm in mid air with a small bias current and then get, essentially, a point source.

It would be awesome.

Yes it would especially since room temp. superconductivity is now a reality. But very few people seem to care!Check out this link, unbelievable.

If a dude claims to have gotten room temp. superconductivity (on his own website) and writes everyone he can think of and nobody cares, don't you think that might indicate that there isn't any merit to his data and/or methods?

You would think someone would show interest. Why lie?He also applied for a patent.

Oh, I don't think he's lying at all, I think that probably the experts he sent his results to did not see any merit to his data and/or methods, as I said. In other words, I think he's probably mistaken.

Any HPM owners/knowledgeable folks care to weigh in on that design ? And also, anyone for unusual materials in composition - such as wood cones, bamboo, glass, titanium, berylium, or others, anyone care to weigh in ?

I'm thinking these just might be made in Australia.

Does anyone remember a speaker back in the mid '70s which was a rear loaded folded horn speaker which consisted of a pyramid incased in an open ended square box about 2.5 feet square and had 4 tweeters in the pyramid face facing out? I can't find anything on the internet and I could swear they where called Pyramid speaker? Hard to remember, it was a long time ago but I actually saw and heard a pair.

This might be the patent application, but I don't know.

Very interesting design, I remember the vintage "Pyramid" brand, it may have been called that; there have been photos floating around over the years on the net. I saw some less than a year ago but I'm striking out trying to find those photos again now. A google search once in a while pulls up different photos...I was searching for a certain vintage Technics item last week & could only find a photo of the back connector area. This week same google search found 2 front faceplate NEW photos. Google searching today for "pyramid speaker photos" is not pulling up the vintage one, but many other interesting ones. There are different current Pyramid speaker companies today which are not the same as the vintage one and some are nice designs, also a car-speaker uses that name too. Keep checking for photos once in a while, I guess, and clic on it if it turns up, it may reveal the holy grail !
