Specialist Pioneer Battery Supplier?

Hi there.

Can anyone recommend a specialist battery supplier for Pioneer devices.

I have a Pioneer AXD 7379 remote .... it's off the Pioneer VSA-AX10Ai. The battery reference is AZW7264.

I can see from the manual that it's an NEC Zion battery. I believe it may also have another reference number of 24004JC but have not had confirmation of that.

The remote is pictured here by the AV unit .... I can provide a photo of the battery should it be helpful.

Many thanks in advance for your help

Pull the battery and look for a manufacturer and part or Type #. Bets are it's a type that can be readily had at a battery store. All of my PIONEER Remotes have either AA or AAA batteries, but then again, the remotes date from late 90's to mid 00's.

Many thanks Larry. Yes think will do that. I know for a fact that NEC make it for Pioneer ... it says as much in the manual.

In fact maybe an idea I post a photo on here before taking apart ... it could be that someone can identify from the shape/shell.

But totally take your point that it's likely consumer available batteries layered up to look like something more exotic.

It is a rechargeable battery pack with a cable. It's cell elements are NEC TOKIN AZW7624 lithium ion.

It has a 2 wire cable with a connector on the end.

3.7 volts 760mAH is the key takeaway.

This type of battery is more akin to some cellphone batteries, but they usually have 4 connections: 2 power, 2 probably temperature sense.

Yep that's the boy Mark ... exactly that. But finding one has proved impossible so far.

As Larry mentioned earlier, it's an option to open it up and see if there's any commonality but what I can see looks like a white rectangular plastic slab.

I doubt this will work, but try calling Pioneer support center and see if they are any help. Manual states call them for batteries. With it being 18 years old I seriously doout they'd know what you are talking about. (read very long shot
!!!!)

You may be able to find one that can fit from the 'bay or something.

I just typed in 3.7v LiPo and it came up with a ton of stuff, some vendors list LWH in the description

Here's one for example- what are the dimensions for yours?

Try BatteriesPlus, I just got some batteries for a 40+ year old multimeter battery pack from them..

Yeah I did do that Larry but no joy unfortunately

That's interesting. I had looked at Ebay (in fact my successful go to for most odd fit stuff) but only used straight product numbers. I'd not tried coming at it from a different angle as you have done there.

And indeed that looks very close the dimensions. Yeah going to approach it at that different angle. Nice suggestion

Maybe it's the covid thing and reduced staffing but absolutely impossible to get through to Batteries Plus in the UK.

Their web site asks a captura response but there's no box to do it on the contact page. Only a strangely positioned Google Map :-) Tried a few times.

https://batteriesplus.co.uk/cgi-bin/mf000002.cgi

Tried ringing them several times for two days and narda. Constantly engaged.

Anyone have an email address for them please? Nothing on their UK web site.

Come to that I don't mind which country I order one from so long as I can get one.

Appreciate any contact data anyone may have.

Many thanks

Oh for sure, I got this far but if you complete the form it asks for a capatur response but there is no capatur area only a large google map plaster over.

So the contact form is there .... it just does not allow successful completion and submission.

This was on Chrome / Google .... I might try on IE or Firefox.

But thanks for coming back all the same. No they not answering the phone either .... tried multiple times of day for a week. Maybe affected by covid etc. This is the .co.uk part of the organisation.

If anyone has an email for the US one then I might try that. Just want to get one on order wherever it comes from :-)

As ROLLCENTRE indicated, It is a 3.7v 760 mah Lion with 2 connectors. Any Lion with 2 connectors at 3.7v that would fit in the compartment will likely work if it has same connector. If not, cut the connector off that battery and solder it to the new one. The MAH rating only has to be close. I a low draw device such as a remote, mah in that kind of device is really only affects how long it operates before it needs recharging. Amazon and Ebay are filled with batteries that might work. If not, you are only out a few bucks. A NOS Pioneer will likely cost you several dozen dollars. A substitute may only be a few bucks shipped.

Good luck in your search.

That explanation helps a lot. I have been searching for such a battery but had been sticking too closely to the precise search. Specifically the MAH as you mention.

I found this one (pictured & linked below) earlier in the week that looks good but I have no idea which of the three metal plates I'd have to soldier the leads to..... I guess the outer left and right?

https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/353834-REG/Canon_9763A001_NB_4L_Lithium_Ion_Battery_3_7v.html

But the fact that I can search and have some acceptable delta on the MAH rating means I have a much wider window and indeed some did come up with a higher MAH with leads that appear to match. I'm going to go back now and conduct the same search and hopefully I can find that one again.

In the meantime, if anyone knows which metal contact (on the Canon battery below) I'd have to solder the Pioneer lead to, that would be very helpful as a fall back.

Many thanks for the steer ... have been very helpful, will report back how I get on
