Specialist Pioneer Battery Supplier?

Kind of looks like a cordless phone battery IMO.

Yes it's actually very very close to many Nokia mobile phone batteries I found now. I've ordered one off Amazon to see if it works but it's a little bit different size ... may be a fraction too big. It turns out to be similar in spec to one used in the Logitech Harmony remotes but that one again is a little thicker. But as least solid options/alternatives coming up thanks to support from Audiokarma members

This Nokia one I found is a better fit and will be a plan B. But I don't 100% know the wire to metal plate connection order .... red / black etc.

It's only 2 wires off the battery, correct?

That's a positive and a negative. Easy peasy - except the battery may not take well to soldering the wires, spot welds happen quickly with very concentrated heat in an extremely small area.
Soldering may leave behind a perpetual fire hazard. I kid you not.

Take your point. Well I've ordered the 850 MAH one that has the leads so lets see, if that works then we can maybe avoid having to go down that route. This one appeared a better technical fit and physical fit but fingers crossed the one ordered may pay off.

Appreciate the warning mind.

Just to mention, the budget Amazon 850 MAH one worked! Rather nicely in fact.

It's a little too thick for the storage area and the cover plate pushes out a little but minor issue.

Many thanks to everyone involved in the search. Appreciate the time and input.

Not to try and find out why the LCD panel touch areas are all about 10mm out of touch zone. :-)
