The Return Of Technics Is Symbolic, But Will Anyone Actually Buy Them?

Re 87000 releases, with 500 being on vinyl. The 500 number is called 'almost none.' But it's also mentioned that 3/4 of the new releases were download only. Can anyone tell me how many of those 65,000 releases sold any significant number of units at all? I'm willing to bet the answer is 'almost none.'

Basically, I'm suggesting that the 500 is a larger percent of a much smaller universe of top-level, promoted, money-making music.

So 500 would only cover major label releases? That makes more sense.

I'm not doubting OsageAudio's knowledge here, but both of these statements make sense to me.

I think you did very well getting that Mk5. When and if Technics actually releases the new model for sale, you still got a very nice NIB turntable.

I have to eat crow. I just bought a new, in the box SL1210MK2. I stumbled upon it and could not let it pass by. Considering the new version is $4k, I could not imagine that its $3k better then my new 1210. I also found out (I think this is a for sure) that the 2 new models will be the same price (which is sure goofy to me), and that is not what I was hoping for.....

'ner, "the one who changes his mind"......

Please let me know how your new TT performs... I mean with "real world" feedback... and thanks!

It will perform as my current SL1200MK2. I don't play my music at high levels (volume control usually around 9 or 10 o'clock).

I just was checking the tracking for UPS on this table and the shipper requested it returned..... Someting wong.....

Why does this **** always happen?

The saga continues.................

Problem solved. They shipped the wrong item to me. SL1210MK5 will be here next Wednesday. If the Blizzard doesn't cause some problems....

Yeah.

I just ordered an AT120E/T cartridge from Parts Express. I plan on swapping the stylus for an ATN440MLa, which I have about a 1/2 dozen or so. It will be an interesting experiment. If it doesn't float my boat, then I will put my Grado Gold1 Longhorn on it, or maybe another AT440MLa as my 1200 has. That is a great combo for this table.

I still want a SL1200GAE, bad materialism........

You can pre-order the tables thru "vendor approved" retailers. Visit the Technics website and they have a list...
