What do you find yourself buying as a record that you have never bought before?

Read an article about Tango music a few weeks ago and found a nice example of the genre yesterday for $1.

Ray Conniff Singers. There is a pop artist with a current hit and everytime I hear it, I think of the Ray Conniff Singers. So I did what must be done.

Grateful Dead. Just picked up their Europe '72 triple LP set at the GW. Why? :dunno: Not a fan, but it was the first time I've ever seen any Dead at a thrift, and the discs are all in NM condition, unusual for any thrift store rock LP's (jazz LP's are almost always in much better condition, thankfully). 'Auctions for AK' fodder, maybe?

When the guy from Beastie Boys, Adam died I realized that with 4000 LPs and hundreds of CDs, I did not have any by them. I went out and bought a one. I hated it. Who told him that he could sing. The band wasn't bad if the singer would just shut up.

Delta Blues.

That's my current interest and will be my interest for quite a long time to come. I'm focusing in.

I have a little collection going on but this will be ' all ' my future LP purchases. But I'm not rushing into it full bore. Delta Blues LPs can get fairly expensive. Just get a deal here, a deal there, like that. No hurry.

Used Delta Blues CDs sell for cheap prices but the used LPs are pricey, like start at $18 used on a good day, and go up from there.

I'll still pick up a few used LPs here and there just for fun, but they have to be Mint- and be very specific artists and albums. Also I'm done searching for any specific albums. My 'desired' LP collection is complete now.

It's Delta Blues time. Way overdue to get a collection together and learn some early musicial Delta Blues history.

My Goodwill had a bunch of records that were called "Percussion" or Percussion and something else. I bought them all. I'm guessing they are 60's era and they are instrumental. I really enjoy listening to them.

Not something that I would intend to buy. But at $.50 each I tried a couple and went back to get them all. Here's an example...

Meatloaf - Bat Out of Hell
Dionne Warwick Collection(s)
Aerosmith - anything really, but I've recently been interested to hear songs from their first 4 or 5 LPs.
Paul Williams - I recently bought a "best of" collection.

I just bought Ozzy's first solo album today, Blizzard of Oz, never was a big fan of his solo work, bu this LP rocks.

I buy just about anything and everything to give it a try. If you went through my music collection, you would never believe one person bought it all. Classical, Jazz, R&B, Pop, Rock, Country, New Wave, New Age, Disco, Punk, Metal; got it all and listen to it all.

Last night's playlist included Devo, Johnny Lang, Luther Vandross, Zoot Sims, Beatles, Genesis (Lamb Lies Down on Broadway), Iron Butterfly, Garth Brooks, Heatwave, Blue Oyster Cult, and Shastakovich 5th Symphonic on Telarc. (I was testing out my new tube processor)

A mint copy of Wrappers Delight is on my wishlist.

Though I tend to quickly pass by classical music in the thrift bins, recently I've found myself buying anything Flamenco (i.e. Segovia, The Romero's). I'm a heavy 80's listener, but a little Flamenco guitar really sets the mood.

I also tend to buy any albums that I remember from childhood, album cover wise, that were in my older brother's collections; whether I've heard them or not, but suprisingly I tend to enjoy them anyways.

What records do I buy that I have never bought before?

Hopefully, most of them. Sometimes, I will buy a collection, or a whole boxful at a yard sale and end up with repeats. I'm not so far gone that I buy repeats singly, but I have no doubt that I will end up that way if I last long enough.

You have to try The In Sound From Way Out. It's a great album without a vocal track in sight.
